Welcome to the Band-in-a-Box 2009 Everything PAK !

If you have a previous version of Band-in-a-Box installed on your computer, you should install these files to your existing Band-in-a-Box folder.  This is usually C:\bb.

This Band-in-a-Box package includes RealBand 2009!  RealBand is a program that combines the most popular features from PG Music's PowerTracks Pro Audio and Band-in-a-Box programs into an all-in-one sequencing program with automatic accompaniment.  RealBand is usually installed to C:\RealBand, and it can share the same MIDI styles, RealDrums styles, and RealTracks styles as Band-in-a-Box.

Band-in-a-Box 2009 also comes with RealDrums and RealTracks sets, which are installed separately.  Install the RealDrums and RealTracks after you finish this installation of Band-in-a-Box and RealBand.  If you downloaded your order (electronic delivery), you may have downloaded RealDrums and RealTracks files in addition to this Band-in-a-Box installer.  If you are waiting for them to arrive by physical mail, you can still continue to use Band-in-a-Box 2009 in the mean time.

Disk space required for the installation depends mainly on how many RealTracks Sets you install...
 
-A full installation of Band-in-a-Box 2009 (with all the MIDI Styles, Soloists, Melodists, songs and lessons), and RealBand, requires about 700 MB of free hard disk space.
-A full installation of Band-in-a-Box 2009, RealBand, the first 6 RealDrums Sets, and the first 6 RealTracks Sets, requires about 4.5 GB of free hard disk space.
-A full installation of Band-in-a-Box 2009, RealBand, all 20 RealDrums Sets, and the first 12 RealTracks Sets, requires about 15 GB of free hard disk space.
-A full installation of Band-in-a-Box 2009, RealBand, and all currently available RealDrums and RealTracks Sets, requires about 40 GB of free hard disk space.

Note for Band-in-a-Box 2007 and 2008 users:  You may be accustomed to the having the 'Real' files decompressed to wave files, which required a great deal of hard disk space.  This is no longer necessary with Band-in-a-Box 2009 so much less hard disk space is required per set.   If you already have wave files from a previous installation and you would like to save space, you can press the 'Archive' button in the RealDrums/RealTracks preferences in Band-in-a-Box.  Note that you will need to have the original compressed files (*.WMA), which will be present unless you manually deleted them (in this case you would need to reinstall the files).

When you install RealDrums and RealTracks, you will have the option of choosing different locations to install the RealDrums ('Drums') and RealTracks folders.  This is useful if you would like to install the 'Real' files on a different hard drive because of their size.  However, for ease of use we recommend that you install all files to your Band-in-a-Box folder if you have enough hard disk space. Note that if you choose to install these files to a different location, you will need to specify the custom RealTracks and Drums folder locations within the RealDrums and RealTracks Preferences dialogs in Band-in-a-Box.

About RealBand

RealBand combines the most popular features from PG Music's PowerTracks Pro Audio and Band-in-a-Box programs into an all-in-one sequencing program with automatic accompaniment.

RealBand can share the same "Band-in-a-Box styles" (*.STY), RealDrums, and RealTracks files with Band-in-a-Box and other PG Music programs.  These files only need to be installed in one location on your computer, and you can point to that location within the RealBand song preferences.

For most users, we recommend the default installation folders, which are C:\RealBand for the RealBand program files, and C:\bb for all of the styles.  When set up like this, the Band-in-a-Box styles (*.STY) will be located in your main Band-in-a-Box folder (C:\bb), the RealDrums styles will be in C:\bb\Drums, and the RealTracks styles will be in C:\bb\RealTracks.

About the Roland VSC
___________________________________________________

There are three versions of the Roland VSC - the VSC3 (stand-alone MIDI version), the VSC-DXi, and the VSC-VSTi.  All three versions are included with Band-in-a-Box, but we recommend installing and using one of the plugin versions (DXi or VSTi) with Band-in-a-Box 2009.

When you install Band-in-a-Box 2009, it will install the VSC-DXi and VSC-VST automatically provided you leave that option checked.

The reason we recommend the plugin version is that it can have much lower latency than the VSC3, it provides better synchronization between the MIDI / RealDrums / RealTracks / Audio tracks, and it allows for quicker and easier Direct-Rendering to WAV/MP3/WMA files.

To select the VSC-DXi in Band-in-a-Box, open the MIDI Driver Setup dialog and check the 'Use DXi Synth' box.  When the DirectX window appears, select the VSC-DXi as your plugin.  To use the VST-VSTi, you first need to select 'Add VSTi Plugin'.

If you would like to install the VSC-DXi at a later date, or if you would like to install the VSC3, you can use the setup files in the \bb\vsc folder.  Note:  The VSC3 (stand-alone version) is not compatible with Windows Vista.

A PDF User's Guide and New Features Guide will be installed in your Band-in-a-Box folder.  You can open these manuals at any time by clicking on the shortcuts in the 'Start | All Program' menu, or by using the Help menu items within Band-in-a-Box.
 
The RealBand User's Guide will be installed to your RealBand folder.  You can use the shortcut in the start menu to open it.
